PURPLE HAZE

“Purple Haze is evocative of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in 1969 as well as Lennon and Ono’s staged ‘Bed-ins for Peace’ in Montreal and Amsterdam, also in 1969. On a personal note, the perfume reflects the legendary artist Keenak who I met in Bahama Village, Key West. Guitar on his back, snake skin boots, skinny jeans and long hair. The fragrance Purple Haze is a tribute to creativity, freedom and indulgence and sets the ambience for 19-69."

The scent is deep, powerful, quirky and captivating.

CAPRI

"Capri by 19-69 is inspired by the stylish and iconic movie Le Mépris, which was shot in 1963 on the Isle of Capri. The settings include Villa Malaparte and the motion picture incorporates a scheme of red (tolerance, love), blue (coldness) and white (neutral) referring to the national flags of France and USA, evocative of the thematic elements of the narrative." The scent is edgy, fresh, light yet comforting. KASBAH "Stories of how Talitha and Paul Getty, Paul Bowles, Mick Jagger, Veruschka and Yves Saint Laurent all resided in Marrakesh have always inspired me. I’m intrigued by how they were enticed by the kingdom’s energy and dynamic and used it for influences and escapes: clothes, colors, music, interior and drugs. I wanted to create a warm and cocooning scent influenced by this era, based on personal reminiscences from the vibrant souks and lively markets in Marocco. Fragrance notes include White Honey, Amber and Sandalwood."

The scent is woody and welcoming with soft oriental spices.

RAINBOW BAR

“The notorious Rainbow Bar on LA’s Sunset Strip was founded when the word ‘rainbow’ signified peace and freedom. The place became a hotspot for rock musicians and was frequently featured in music videos of bands like Guns’n’roses and Motörhead. Rainbow Bar by 19-69 is evocative of the 1980s glamrock but also includes lighter elements: reflections of the clear blue skies, the sunshine and the warm glow that embrace the West Coast.”

The scent has a warm glow with lighter elements.

L'AIR BARBÈS

“I was in my teens when I first discovered Helmut Newton’s picture that made YSL’s ‘Le Smoking’ iconic. The genderlessness really made a big impression on me. With stark monochrome simplicity, Newton created a piece of iconography I still find myself inspired by. In the making of L´air Barbès I was strongly influenced by the androgyny in this picture. L´air Barbès by 19-69 is evocative of Paris’ different personas such as the concrete alleyways, le banlieue and of course, the area Barbès – Rochechouart. The fragrance is also a tribute to Paris, capitale de la mode.”

The scent is cold, light and fresh.

INVISIBLE POST

"Summer of Love was a social phenomenon that occurred during the summer of 1967. A cultural earthquake determined to trash the previous generation’s old values and embrace a new consciousness of freedom, sex, drugs and rock’n’roll. The search for enlightenment led the flower children to travel to places like Machu Picchu and Kathmandu using decorated, colorful Volkswagen buses. Ideas on the next hotspot or music festival were collectively shared within the hippie community by the Invisible Post.”

A playful, bursting and woody scent.

LA HABANA

"Known as a playground for the mafia and wealthy elite, Havana in the mid-1900s hosted many vibrant music venues like the Tropicana or the members’ guild Buena Vista Social Club. The rhythmic pulsations of Habanera, Latin Jazz and Salsa that were heard everywhere coupled with the dazzling showgirls added to the tropical island’s allure. After the revolution in 1959 many establishments closed down and with that an era of Havana ended. The scent La Habana by 19-69 shines a light on the golden musical era of Cuba between the 1930s and 1950s.”

An aromatic, smokey and alluring fragrance.
